Honda -VS- Briggs Engines
Both Honda and Briggs & Stratton manufacture two types of engines, one for "consumer" use and one for "professional or industrial" applications. The consumer engines are built with a low price as a primary objective and are usually found on equipment sold in department stores and depot-type home centers.
The industrial-series engines are equipped with exceptional features to greatly increase the performance and service life of the engines. These features include cast-iron cylinder sleeves, ball-bearing supported crankshafts, OHV design, as well as heavy-duty starters, XXL fuel tanks, and low-noise exhaust systems.
McLane Reel Mowers are equipped only with Honda GX-Series Industrial-Grade Engines or Briggs & Stratton XR-Series commercial engines, which are considered to be the best small engines available.
Both brands are built to provide up to 3X the service life of the consumer grade engines offered by these two manufacturers.
Either engine choice will provide maximum customer satisfaction with minimal maintenance, and are supported by more than 15,000 warranty centers across the USA.
